Now with a team of 40 event professionals in four offices, Intours DMC designs innovative event programs in Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro.

WHY VISIT

Rich History

Although pretty controversial, the history of Macedonia is rich and interesting from ancient times to modern days. There are many archaeological sites, customs, architecture and much more to be seen. There are over 950 churches and monasteries with over 150,000 square meters, decorated with numerous frescoes (around 22,500), iconostases (240), baldachins, archaeological altars and thrones, wooden carvings, and murals. Only in Ohrid and its surroundings, there are exactly 364 churches. There are also about 600 mosques in the Republic of Macedonia, of which the most famous are those from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Untouched nature

Macedonia is a land of various natural beauties: high mountain massifs rich in flora and fauna, mountain rivers and tectonic lakes, numerous thermal springs, basins, and valleys. The territory of the country is mainly mountainous, over 80%, and one will find many snow beauties in winter. However, the magnificent landscape is also present around the lakes and in most of the towns and villages.

Ohrid – UNESCO world heritage

On the World heritage list, there are 1121 UNESCO-protected sites in the world, 39 of them are with mixed values (7 in Europe). Ohrid is one of them, listed as both natural and cultural heritage.

Food & wine

Macedonia is famous for its cuisine. Everyone who has ever tried Macedonian food would agree that it is colorful and diverse, mainly based on meat and vegetables. Local cuisine includes many salads thanks to the climate and the fertile soil. Almost every Macedonian dish represents a testament to the past. There are different cultural stamps, but every recipe is a unique one. Macedonia produces great wines with more than 4000 years of history. It is one of Europe’s undiscovered wine countries. Macedonia’s varied terrain offers a choice of vineyard locations. The country gets around 300 sunny days in a year and has a perfect climate for grape-growing. These extremely favorable climate conditions and the rich, heavy, and clay-filled soils, contributes to the great grapes production, and great wines can only be made from great grapes.
